The guitar, a Fender Stratocaster, was set aflame at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and was expected to bring in closer to $900,000. The guitar was the highlight of the auction by The Fame Bureau an auction house in London, England. In addition to the Hendrix guitar, Elvis Presley’s fingerprints on a concealed gun application went for close to $82,000 and a copy of the Beatles first contract with Brian Epstein sold for over $400,000.
